Lyra: Twisted Pathways Workshop with Katelyn Carano
Sunday April 20th 4-5:15pm
In this 1.5 hour workshop, we will cover unique ideas and pathways on aerial hoop. In three separate sequences we will explore interesting and diverse shapes, with smooth and seamless transitions that make movement look a like magic trick and feel like a fluid flow. Recommended prerequisites include being able to straddle in the air. Basic understanding of skin the cats and comfortability with spinning encouraged but not required. Class can be modified with simplified or more challenging variations to be of interest to any level of aerialist.
Instructor Bio: Katelyn took on the alias KitCat in 2012 and has been exploring the world of aerial and circus arts ever since. She has traveled the country and the world through her network of incredible circus friends and colleagues. Kat has a background in hula hoop and fire dancing, aerial lyra, silk, and straps, ballet, belly dance, and contortion. Kat draws inspiration from connection to flow, storytelling, and human connection. She is based in Santa Barbara, CA, but has trained with mentors in San Diego, LA, and Vegas. Kat loves traveling, sharing knowledge, and integrating personal style with saucy, skillful, and intentional movement. Her performance credits include Coachella, Lionsgates films, and performing for artists such as Sir Elton John. But her greatest joy comes from nerding out on aerial pathways with friends and feeling that release when we dance in our flow state.
Refunds or cancellations must be requested 48 hours before the date of the workshops. There are no refunds, transfers, credits after.
